ACTING EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
A number of countries in Africa are experiencing dire poverty and underdevelopment
because of corruption. Clearly, if this problem is not dealt with effectively and decisively,
this problem will continue to undermine for example the ability to achieve the Millennium
goals, the NAPAD programmes and underdevelopment. In generalised terms, there are four
direct costs that can be linked directly to corruption.
